Course Overview

This full day training program includes a review of the WorkSafeBC legal requirements for the safe entry into a confined space, as well as the safe work practices and controls necessary to ensure the safety of all workers involved with confined space entry, including rescue. Participants will learn about the 4 Critical Questions prior to entering a confined space entry. Participants will also discuss the equipment required to ensure a safe entry/rescue of a worker from a confined space.

Training Objectives

Upon successful completion of this training program, participants will have the required knowledge and skill necessary to ensure that any entry into a confined space is fully compliant with WorkSafeBC legal requirements, and industry best practices. Participants will also learn the importance of documentation (e.g. Entry Permits, Atmospheric test results), as part of an Employer’s due diligence responsibility as it applies to the entry into a confined space.

Intended Audience

Workers who perform duties relating to the entry of a confined space (e.g. Entrant, Attendant, Rescuer), as well as Supervisors who direct workers to work within a confined space. All participants must achieve a minimum of 80% passing grade in order to receive a record of training upon successful completion of this training program.

Course Duration

Full day (8 hours).
Note: this course can be modified based on the specific requirements of a customer’s worksite / work environment.
