Course Overview

This full day training program includes a review of the WorkSafeBC legal requirements for the inspection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and devices, as well as manufacturers’ inspection recommendations for fall protection equipment. Participants will learn about the proper techniques to inspect the components used in a Personal Fall Protection System (PFPS). In addition, participants will be given the opportunity to inspect (and document their findings) a variety of pieces of fall protection equipment as part of a hands-on workshop.

Training Objectives

Upon successful completion of this training program, participants will gain the required knowledge and skill necessary to conduct the inspection of fall protection equipment. The training will include both a theory portion (review of inspection criteria and manufacturer’s inspection recommendations), as well as a hands-on practical workshop inspecting a variety of different components commonly used in a PFPS. Participants will also learn the importance of documenting the inspection results, as part of an Employer’s due diligence responsibility.

Intended Audience

Supervisors / workers who have the responsibility to perform annual inspections of the components / equipment (anchorage connectors, full body harnesses, lanyards, etc.) used in a Personal Fall Protection System. All participants must achieve a minimum of 80% passing grade in order to receive a record of training upon successful completion of this training program.

Course Duration

Full day (8 hours).
